With all this rain you'd think our lakes would fill back up! Actually it was just kind of a light rain but it lasted almost all day. Doug and Taryn are super laid back and both have great laughs - amazing qualities for a happy life together. Doug really loosened up when we grabbed some images with the bridesmaids. Right Dougy? Taryn, aka "Peanut" and her dad, aka "Pops" had an emotional first sighting - I always love the access we have as photographers to get a front row seat to these events. Pops had this sweet yellow '56 Chevy all decked out with his "newlyweds on board" yellow caution sign. The old el Camino was a sweet ride too... love the black and white of it below.

We stopped for a few shots in White Bear at the gazebos (see the rain?) and then found this really cool textured wall in an alley nearby. At the end of the night Bre and Megan modeled the final shot for Doug and Taryn and the evening came to an end. Have fun up north and the "Back to the 50's" weekend you two! -Judd and Jessi

Africa!

My dad recently returned from Africa and got some amazing images - check out the video:

His words: "While this brief blog is wild life, the trip was an immersion in culture and connections with dear people half worlds away.
Truly unforgettable but even more transformational, a challenge to re-evaluate values, priorities and the rhythm of life.
Music, dance, laughter, orphan children leaping for joy and outdoing one another in impeccable harmony…
I shall never see the world or myself in quite the same way, thinking now of new friends and new faith in the future."

There will be a cool collage of 11 of the the black and whites going in our gallery. Details to follow on our open house!

Matt + Andrea = married June 5, 2010 (Trinity Lutheran Church Lindstrom, Rudy’s Red Eye Grill/White Bear Country Inn & Suites)

Hands down, awesome bridal party! We had a little rain, but that didn't stop us from having a good time. I have never seen such a cool way to remember who was present at the wedding, check out the "family tree" made up of finger prints and signatures. Thanks Matt and Andrea!

Rachael - Elite Senior Session

We always blog our Elite High School Senior Sessions, but Rachael and her property yielded some especially unique images. It was hot out, but Rachael, Erick, Josh, and I all worked a bit harder to get this really cool lamp and deer skull to light up. We're weird, I know, but it helps to we get some killer images! Like Rachael enjoying the boombox... -Judd

Jake and Ana's wedding day was perfect. We had sunshine all day and a ton of fun. I see why Jake and Ana chose their priest to do the wedding. I don't think I have laughed that much in church before, and he even showed up later for a drink and a kiss : ) Jake's brother and best man got a few laughs and a few tears as he gave his toast. We hope you enjoy some of these images, we enjoyed creating them.

Thanks Jake and Ana, let us know when you are renewing your vows!!

Senior Portraits in Stillwater!

Not a day goes by when we're thankful that we have the opportunity to take senior pictures in Stillwater. There are tons of little nook and crannies loaded with texture and character, and a variety of spaces with enough sun and shade to capture a wide variety of looks that our high school seniors love. The seniors that come in are all spunky and amazing and willing to just have fun and create with us - which is awesome.

We've only opened our "wedding specialist" fine art studio to high school seniors for just over year now, so this is going to be a busy and exciting 2nd summer! We're not going to be able to blog all of these videos this summer, but here are a few recent ones (We'll post the six ambassador videos after the June 2 release / pizza party):

Bridal Fashion Session - St. Croix Vineyard

As photographers we love to challenge ourselves with some "outside the box" shooting and here is our latest effort! Special thanks to Jennae, Amber, Kelsey, Josh, and our brides/models Elaine, Monica, and Melody - this shoot was a ton of fun, and yes Josh wasted a perfectly good Mojito on his pant leg in the video! -Judd & Josh

Jason + Tara = Engaged

I was feeling a little flat creatively Saturday since we've had so many portrait sessions the last two weeks. Traffic was jammed in Stillwater due to construction. Jason and Tara called stuck in traffic so we just went north of Stillwater to photograph their engagement portraits. They turned out awesome - we've been to this site a number of times and we found a number of images we've never captured before - love that! Here they are... video coming soon! Jason and Tara are so cool, they hung out with us for a few hours afterward - a great day all-around! -Judd

Mobile Post: This is our first live post while shooting a wedding! We're having a blast shooting Nick and Jessie's big day. We just climbed a truck to get a better perspective on the Minnehaha Falls. Awesome!

--

Nick and Jessie had some exciting moments throughout their wedding day! For the first time ever, I climbed onto a truck to get a better perspective on the bridal party. We had to exploit the beautiful Minnehaha Falls for the shot! Later in the day, we went to Joe Sensor's and witnessed the 2010 Kentucky Derby drama while Nick (loudly) informed us of the countdown to get back on the bus. From there, we headed to Royal Cliff where Nick and Jessie fooled hundreds of people with their first dance. Nick demanded a new song from the DJ and they began the routine from there, classic! After a visit from the TC the bear, the dancing went late into the night. Thanks to all for a great day and it was awesome to see many of you whom I haven't seen in a long time! Cheers to Nick and Jessie :)
